Founder & Practitioner – Functional Healing
Brandy Vandergrifft, MSN, FNP-C, is a certified family nurse practitioner and one of the founders of Functional Healing in Lake Jackson. With a deep-rooted commitment to holistic care, she blends medical expertise with compassion to help patients feel their best—inside and out.
A Journey in Healthcare
Born and raised in Brazoria County, Brandy began her healthcare career after graduating from Brazoswood High School and earning her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Brazosport College. She started in the emergency department at Brazosport Regional, later expanding her experience through home health and hospice care. In 2020, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington and became board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Her Approach to Medicine
Brandy believes in treating the whole person—not just symptoms. She specializes in hormone imbalances, thyroid disease, weight management, primary care, functional medicine, hormone replacement therapy, regenerative medicine, and peptide therapy. Drawing from her own personal health experiences, she meets patients with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to long-term wellness.
Leading with Heart
As a founder, Brandy’s vision is to create a warm, welcoming environment where patients feel truly heard. She is also an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Texas Nurse Practitioners, staying at the forefront of advancements in her field. Outside of work, she and her husband, Jeff, co-lead a weekly adult small group at their local church.
Life Outside the Clinic
Brandy’s world is full of love and laughter thanks to her husband Jeff, her two daughters—Emma and Karsyn—and their four dogs: Bella, Zoe, Mav, and Sloan. She’s a devoted Disney fan who could happily spend every day strolling Main Street, gazing at Cinderella’s Castle, and meeting Mickey and Minnie. She’s also a proud Swiftie, always ready to blast Taylor Swift or grab tickets to her concerts. Music is a big part of her life, and she especially loves attending shows with her girls. Sunny beaches, family adventures, and planning her next trip “Home” are among her greatest joys.

Ashley Wooderson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C,
a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner who brings a wealth of experience, heart, and dedication to our practice.
Ashley has over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and has been practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner for the past 7 years. Born and raised in Brazoria County, she has proudly served patients across Houston and surrounding communities with a solid background in emergency and urgent care.
What truly sets Ashley apart is her passion for holistic, evidence-based care and her commitment to listening deeply to each patient’s story. She believes in treating the whole person — not just symptoms — and walking alongside you on your health journey.
When she’s not in the clinic, Ashley enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling, and she’s excited to bring her experience and energy to Functional Healing.
Amanda Palmer is a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant with a love for helping patients feel heard. Born and raised in Brazoria County and a proud 2019 graduate of Sweeny High School, Amanda’s roots in a small town have instilled in her a strong sense of community and a deep appreciation for helping others. After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University, Amanda realized her true passion lay in working directly with people and making a positive impact on their well-being. This led her to the medical field, where she now combines her business acumen with a commitment to holistic patient-based care. Amanda enjoys creating an environment where patients feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of her career, Amanda is a dog mom of two, sings on the praise and worship team at her church, loves to travel, and spend time with her family.
Emma Byrd is a warm and energetic medical assistant dedicated to helping patients feel comfortable and supported. Born and raised in Brazoria County, she graduated at the top of her class from Brazoswood High School in 2020 and earned her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and proudly represents the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2024 (WHOOP!!). Currently working toward her nursing degree, Emma balances hands-on clinical experience with dedicated studying and a strong commitment to holistic, patient-focused care. When she’s not at the clinic or focused on her studies, she enjoys creating art, traveling, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and embracing her love for sharks.
Lindsay grew up in Brazoria and now resides in Lake Jackson, where she and her husband are raising their three children. Much of their free time is spent actively supporting their kids’ involvement in softball, dance, volleyball, and golf, among other activities. In her professional role as a patient care coordinator, Lindsay is known for her attentiveness, compassion, and commitment to providing. exceptional patient care. She takes pride in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for every individual she interacts with. Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys tending to her collection of tropical plants, spending time with her pets, and exploring new topics through self-directed learning. She values quality time with her family, a good cup of coffee, live music,and bringing a meticulous, thoughtful approach to all aspects of her life.
As the office manager of Functional Healing, Kasey administers a sense of tranquility that keeps the staff calm and focused. She is basically the “mom” of the practice. Kasey and Brandy met 13 years ago, and became good friends, while caring for Kasey’s mom that was diagnosed with ALS. Kasey, later gave moral support as Brandy worked toward becoming a nurse practitioner and was honored to be asked to work alongside Brandy as the Office Manager of her amazing practice. Kasey has an Associates Degree in general studies and an Associates in Dental Hygiene. She was born and raised in Brazoria County where she lives with her husband, Paul, of 25 years, and together have raised two fantastic daughters Zoe and Adysen, in which she is extremely proud.
